Our Background
Ted and Linda have each been involved in dogs for over thirty years. In the 70’s, Ted began successfully breeding, hunting, testing and field training with his former breed, German Shorhaired Pointers. Linda also started her “doggie” involvement in the 70’,, but with Dandie Dinmont Terriers which she owned, showed and bred. Though she is currently without a Dandie, the breed is still in her heart, demonstrated by her 35 year membership in the Dandie Dinmont Terrier Club of America. She now concentrates on the “Gagnon Gaggle of Griffs”.
Ted trains, hunts and tests the Wet Acres dogs throughout New England, New York, the Eastern Seaboard, Pennsylvania and Eastern Canada. He is a Certified Trainer and a graduate of the Connecticut K-9 Education Center. An AKC Hunt Test Judge, he is approved for Junior, Senior and Master Hunt tests. His memberships and offices include having served as both President and Secretary of Southern New England Chapter of NAVHDA and as Vice-President of the American Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Association for two terms. He is a member of both Yankee and Merrimack Chapters of NAVHDA, with which he trains the Wet Acres dogs for field work and testing.
Linda was President of Pioneer Valley Kennel Club for seven years and was Chairman of their all-breed show and obedience trial for eight. She is currently a member of the board of directors both for Wachusett Kennel Club and New England Sporting Group Association. She also served Southern New England Chapter for one year as Secretary. It is her plan to apply to the American Kennel Club to judge both Griffons and Dandies … when she can get to the paperwork! She served the AWPGA as its Judges Education Coordinator for five years and has judged puppy and veteran sweepstakes for several specialties, among them the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon National, the Katahdin German Shorthaired Pointer Specialty and the Field Spaniel Specialty held in conjunction with the American Spaniel Club annual event.
Linda and Ted have been fortunate to have accomplished much in their almost 17 years of involvement with Griffons. They are proud of having bred a litter which produced a NAVHDA Versatile Champion, VC Wet Acres Deep Throat (owned and trained by Dick Dilley), a National Specialty Winner, Ch Wet Acres Dressed To Kill – one of the most titled dogs in Griffdom (owned by Chuck Spiess and handled by Karen Spiess) and a UT Prize III dog, Wet Acres Dinah Might (owned and trained by Ron Granai)…a huge achievement for its dam, the late and very great Ch Wet Acres Abercomby’n’Fetch JH. They are also proud of having bred one of the very few female Pedigree Award Winners, #1 Griffon in the United States, Ch Wet Acres Agatha Frisky JH, a show star in every way and the dam of a UT Prize II dog and the first VCD I and VCD II in Griff history. From Ch Wet Acres Ruby Tuesday came another Versatile Champion, VC Wet Acres Nitroglycerine, also owned and trained by Ron Granai. And from Ch Duchasseur Spottie came the great litter of 15…the M’s… of which 13 dogs prized with an average score of 102 and six Prize I’s. But their greatest accomplishment is the ability to choose owners who give their Griffs the opportunity to achieve their highest potential. We are grateful to these owners beyond expression. The Gagnons are dedicated to the ongoing improvement of their chosen breed. They view each aspect of the dog as equal – temperament, conformation and hunting ability – and work toward uniting these three prongs into the all around upland and water fowl gun dog which is the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. |
